rustic-log-burning-fireplace-with-brick-slips
Rustic Log Burning Fireplace with Brick Slips

A homeowner in Cambridge has transformed their living room with a rustic log burner surround clad in reclaimed brick slips from Reclaimed Brick Company. The goal was the look of an old exposed brick chimney breast, without the cost and disruption of building one in full brick.

Brick slips are thin tiles cut from the face of genuine reclaimed bricks. Ours are cut to around 20mm thick, so they add very little depth to the wall. They are fixed to a prepared surface and then pointed, so the finish looks just like solid brickwork. That makes them a practical choice for fireplace recesses and chimney breasts where space is tight.

The Reclaimed Barn stock Brick Slips were chosen for their worn, weathered faces and warm red tones. Each slip carries the chips, marks and colour variation of the original brick, so the finished fireplace has the depth of a wall that has stood for a century.

Because they are fired clay, brick slips are well suited to use around a log burner. They should be fixed with a heat-resistant adhesive, and the installation should follow the stove manufacturer’s clearance distances.

Planning a fireplace makeover or feature wall? Our team can help you choose the right slips and work out how many you need, including corner pieces.

Product – Reclaimed Barnstock Brick Slips
Collection – Reclaimed Brick Slips
Also used – Reclaimed Timber Mantle / Stone Fireplace Hearth

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0290/1072/2948/files/A683F15A-929F-4B6E-AA5F-B533FADE5CDD.jpg?v=1774590314
